2009 Season - Week 12

BUMS Owners Hall of Fame

Remember you have only until this Saturday to decide if it is Johnnie or Marcus who will be inducted. Campaigning has been very quiet so to help you decide here’s the comments about each from the original mailing. JOHNNY “The Original & The Best” Johnny followed up winning the inaugural Championship in 1995 with 2nd places in 1996, 1999, 2006 & 2007 and was 3rd in 2000 and last year. He has the most all-time regular season points & overall is 3rd on average. In the postseason he has never been to the BUMSBowl losing 5 Championship games. MARCUS The youngest ever Champion he was just 10 when he won the Papas Fritas & is the only owner to do the double when he won BUMSBowl VI that same season. He has also won BUMSBowl VIII & IX and was runner up last year. Trading Day 2 – Winners & Losers A fortnight ago 9 owners cut 17 players as we prepare for the push for the Papas Fritas Trophy. Of those 3 players found new homes with Johnnie picking up John’s cast-off Viking TE Visanthe Shiancoe and Chief recycling both his pick ups, another of John’s TE rejections – Vernon Davis and Wayne’s RB cut Joseph Addai. After 2 weeks Marcus seems to be the smartest General Manager as his team has improved by 24 points closely followed by Chief at plus 18. You’ve got to feel for John, the 3 Tight Ends he cut have scored 2 TDs each while Miles Austin and Donnie Avery have 1 each while Brent Celek has yet to score. He is down by 24 points (the only owner with negative change), a difference that would have put him ahead of Mark and a make-able 23 points below the drop line. Injured Reserve As Trading Day 2 has passed should one of your players find their season finished due to injury you can replace them as soon as they are put on Injured Reserve. Beware if they are a franchise player you will still have to pay them and if they are a first year franchise man you will loose their services for 2010 and still have to pay them for this & next season if you cut them. Remember it is up to each owner to alert the Commissioner if any of his players are put on IR. A good source of such information is www.nfl.com/transactions - look at it on Wednesday and let me know of the change on Thursday as, for the rest of the season, each week starts at 1am Friday with the game which we watch at Johnnies on Friday evening. BUMS on Seats. We are at Johnnies in Harrow on Friday from 6:30pm for The Jets visit to Buffalo. Then it’s HQ from 6pm on Sunday for an AFC South game with big Wildcard implications, Houston @ Jacksonville followed by Dallas @ NY Giants in a game that will go a long way to deciding who will in the NFC East. The Sunday Night game is Minnesota @ Arizona and we’re at H’s from 6:30pm for that one. Then at 7pm Tuesday evening we’ll hopefully be at Mark’s to see the Monday Night Game as Green Bay host Baltimore. Call or email if you are coming as venue’s are subject to change and some hosts may be cooking.
